  • This morning I saw a skinny woman with big round glasses who was rubbing her feet into the cracks in the sidewalk. "Ant Patrol?" I asked.

    "Huh?"

    "Ant Patrol?" I asked again, pointing to the former constructions which were now smears of dirt.

    She said, "That's what I do - walk along everywhere and smash all them things out."

    I shook my head, patted her on the elbow, then kept walking so I could catch my bus.
